Robert Lyn Nelson’s “Big Ben Celebration” is a vibrant and dynamic homage to Vincent van Gogh’s iconic “Starry Night.”
Nelson masterfully captures the energy of a festive night in London, with fireworks illuminating the sky above the majestic Big Ben. The artist’s distinct brushwork creates a swirling, dreamlike atmosphere, reminiscent of Van Gogh’s expressive style. The deep blues and yellows of the night sky contrast beautifully with the golden glow of the clock tower and the lights reflecting on the Thames.

History of Big Ben:
Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the striking clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, and often extended to refer to the clock and the clock tower. The tower was designed by Augustus Pugin in a neo-Gothic style and completed in 1859. The Great Bell cracked during testing and was recast and hung in 1862. It has cracked again since and now has its distinctive bong. The clock became operational that year, and has served as an iconic symbol of London and the United Kingdom ever since.
