“Time for Peace”: A Symphony of Hope and Harmony on Canvas

“Time for Peace” is a vibrant and intricate surrealist oil painting that invites the viewer on a journey of contemplation and hope. A weathered guitar, adorned with delicate wings, emerges from a swirling dreamscape of color and light. The artist’s original intent was to do a painting about time passing and my love of music. He was also thinking about his soon to be born granddaughter, Sloane. Many of the elements were painted with her in mind. Bananas are morphing into pencils to encourage Sloane to write and make music with the music stand. The lit candle is an homage to his granddaughter representing hope.

His goal was to show optimism through the angel wings on the guitar with the dove flying into the picture, symbolic of peace. As he painted the hourglass with sand running through it to represent time, it made him think about how so many years have passed so quickly and reminded him of the value of time.

Throughout his creative process, Time For Peace evolved into a painting about having hope for the future and surviving climate change. In a time when we are faced with an uncertain future, the butterflies portray his wish for his granddaughter and for ALL future generations to be able to continue to enjoy nature and our beautiful planet.
